Herr Dane, lias published a new calendar “for every German farmer. ’ ’ The Catholics are incensed at this calendar, and regard it a< Ihe crowning Nazi insult. The calendar omits all of the names of the Saints’ Days and it explains that holidays are, for the future, to be incidents in German history.
For example, Good Friday is to be in meinorv of 4,500 Saxons “murdered by Charlemagne the Butcher.” Easier is to he an Easter “feast of the sunrise.’’ The Day of the Assumption is to be “Thor’s descent after Hie hammer.” Ash Wednesday is to be “Ash Wotan's day.”
December twenty-fifth is to be the feast of “the coming of Yuletide ami the appearance of a goat star on Valhalla’s roof.’’
