TRADE WITH JAPAN
South Africa’s Quest (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) TOKIO, February 18. The South African Government’s Commissioner, Mr Brennan, is at present in Japan. He met the Osaka Chamber of Commerce. At this meeting thirty leading Japanese business men proposed the following: The reduction of the South African duties on Japanese products; the conclusion lof a trade treaty between the two countries, and the appointment of a Permanent South African Trade Commissioner to Japan. Mr Brennan replied that South Africa’s present duties did not discriminate against Japan., He stated that there were good prospects for a trade treaty, and that he favoured the appointment of a South African Commissioner to Japan.
