Alcott's “Little Women” is an elaborate production designed to animate this classic of romance with all its native sweetness and power. The picture encompasses the adventures of “Little Women” > that brought the book recognition as | a classic and 65 years after its pub- * lieation cause it to demand a brisk sale. Katharine Hepburn was selected as Jo, the tom-hoy. Joan Bennett, is Amy, thp “snow maiden, with blue eyes and hair curling over her shoulders.” Frances Dee is Meg. flirtatious and charming. Jean Parker is Beth, the sister with a shy manner and a peaceful expression. Of the , masculine cast, Paul Lukas is Fritz ■ Bhaer, quaint professor who finally i wins Jo; Douglass Montgomery is I Laurie, the rich boy next door; Henry I Stephenson is Mr Laurence, a grumpy neighbour: John Davis Lodge is i Brooke, who marries Meg; and Samuel Hinds is Mr March. “Little Women” will bp presented at Wednesday’s matinee, evening and Thursday.
