West Coast Tourney CONCLUDING DAY’S PLAY. The West Coast croquet championship tournament was concluded yesterday on the Makura Club’s lawns, perfect weather again prevailing. In the- absence of the President of the West Coast Association (Mrs Stallard), Mrs D. Tennent presented the trophies to the successful players. Mrs Tennent expressed the pleasure that was felt at having the visitors from the Christchurch United Club, Mesdames Seandrett and Palmer, and congratulating them on their success. A . presentation was made to Mrs Allan Smith, manager of the tournament, in appreciation of her services, from members of the Makura Club and visiting players. The presentation tool; the form of a beautiful crystal vase. On behalf of the visitors Mrs Scandrett. of Christchurch, returned thanks for the hospitality that had been extended to them and expressed pleasure at the beauty of the Makura Club’s lawns. She was sure that all of the visitors had enjoyed the tournament. The trophies were then presented to the winners, as follows:— West Coast open championship singles—Mrs Palmer; runner-up, Mrs Whibley; championship doubles. Mrs Palmer and Mrs Seandrett; runners-up, Mrs Hannan and Mrs Davies. Handicap doubles: Mrs Tennent and Mrs McKay; runners-up, Mrs Whibley and Mrs Hannan.
Handicap singles (six bisques and under) —Mrs Robertson; runner-up, Mrs | Whibley. Handicap singles (over 6 bisques) — | Mrs Moss; runner-up, Mrs Owen. j Silver buttons competition: Section A—Mrs McCracken (Runanga); Section I B—Mrs Prentice (Reefton); Section C? , —Mrs Moss (Greymouth). Yesterday’s games resulted as follows: — Handicap singles (6 bisques and under) —Final: Mrs Robertson (4) 26 defeated Mrs Whibley (1) 22. Handicap doubles: Mesdames Scandrett and Palmer (j) 26 defeated Mesdames Warnes and Davies (4) 17, Mesdames Tennent and McKay (4) 26 beat mesdames Palmer and Seandrett (P ID. Final—Mesdames Tennent and McKay (4) 26 defeated Mesdames Hannan and Whibley (2|) 21. Handicap singles (over 6 bisques) — | Mrs Owen (8) 26 beat Mrs McCorkindale (74) 19. Final—Mrs Moss (S' 26 beat Mrs Owen (8) 15.
