HOKITIKA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent). HOKITIKA, February 14. The local volunteers who attended the military camp at Taparewa, Nelson, returned last evening. The hot weather is keeping large numbers every day at the beach, and from morning until late in the evening, quite a crowd are always to be found. High temperatures have been maintained .during the past weeks, and the desire for coolness has prompted many to seek respite in the water. The team to represent Kanieri in their match with Ross, at Ross, on Sunday, is: Morris, Morgan (2), Fleming (3). Woolhouse (2), Owens, Wells. Webster, Banks, Feary.
Another popular novelty swimming cprnival is being held in the Municipal Baths on Tuesday February 26, for which entries will close on the previous day. The visit of the Nelson bowlers to Hokitika has been delayed, and the match will be played to-morrow afternoon. The Hokitika rinks to play Nelson are; Thompson, James, Schn field, and J. Wilson; Anderson, Kerr Coles, Fleming; Cook, Lodge, Hoffman and Conning.
