Brodie, the jockey of Madame Pompadour, which fell during the second race at Wingatui this afternoon, was admitted to hospital at 2.35, suffering from severe shock, a. fractured jaw and probably a fractured skull. The injured man comes from Washdyke.

Egmont Concludes CHIEF MARIONETTE WINS. (Per ’Press Association.) HAWERA, February 14. Egmont meeting concluded in ideal weather with a large attendance. The track was hard and fast. The tote handled £10,377, against £8,647 last year; total for the meeting £21,814, compared to £17,558. At the finish of the Electric Handicap the Stewards inquired into apparently inconsistent running by the winner, Life Guard, who finished in fourth place on the first day. They passed a resolution that they considered the horse had been incapably handled by Jarvis on the first day, and that in view of the evidence, they saw no reason to suspect improper practice, and they therefore decided to take no action. B. H. Morris, rider of Life Guard, the winner, was censured by the Stewards for not riding his mount out at the finish of the Electric Handicap, in which it was nearly beaten. Results:—

OKAIAWA HANDICAP.—2 PANGO (J. Mcßae) 1; 3 Colossal (P. Burgess) 2; 1 Headland (B. Lidall) 3. Won by a length; seven lengths. Time 2.44. Pango led at the first fence, being joined by. Headland, and the pair passed the stand two lengths clear of Colossal. Pango took the lead into the back from Headland. Colossal displaced Headland and came into the straight on terms with Pango, the latter going on very comfortably to win easily.

WAIMATE HANDICAP.—2/1 PLADIE (W. J. Broughton) 1; 3/3 Full Throttle MI. N. Wiggins) 2; 4/4 Navaho (S. Anderson) 3. Also started: 1/2 Golden Hair (R. Reed), 5/5 Sanguine King (Burgess), 7/7 Moatoa (L. H. Jones), 6/6 Merry Way (W. E. Pine). Won by a short head; a neck. Time 1.12 4-5. Sanguine King early led Full Throttle, Navaho, Merry Way and Pladie. Full Throttle lead into the straight from Sanguine King, Navaho, and Pladie. Pladie and Navaho challenged, and in a thrilling finish Pladie won by a short head, with Navaho half a neck away, and Sanguine King a close fourth. MEREMERE HANDICAP.—I/1 HARVEST MOON (W. J. Broughton) 1; 4/3 Chikara (S. Tremain) 2; 6/6 Panloff (G. Duncan) 3. Also started: 5/5 Friesland (L. Dulieu), 2/2 Note Issue (W. E. Pine), 4/4 Gold Gleam 7.7 (J. McFarlane). Won by threequarters of a length; a nose. Time 1.13 4-5. Chikara got in front from Harvest Moon, Gold Gleam and Note Issue. (In the straight Harvest, Moon joined Chikara, with Friesland and Gold. Gleam a couple of lengths hack. Harvest Moon won nicely. Chikara held

off the fast finishing Panloff by a nose, with Gold Gleam right up. TONKS STAKES.—7/7 CHIEF MARIONETTE (W. E. Pine) 1; 4/4 Davistock (L. H. Jones) 2; 2/1 Aga Khan (B. 11. Morris) 3. Also started: 3/3 Hazoor (R. Reed), 6/6 Tiger Gain (S. Anderson), 1/2 Rust (W. J. Broughton), 5/5 Monanui (11. N. Wiggins). Won by a head; two lengths. Time 1.45 3-5. Tiger Gain led out from Davistock, Hazoor and Aga Khan. Davistock got within a length of Tiger Gain at the half mile, and passed him three furlongs from home. Chief Marionette was second to last. Davistock looked to have the race won, but Chief Marionette came like a bolt from the blue and won on the post.

ELECTRIC HANDICAP.—I/1 LIFE GUARD (B. 11. Morris) 1; 4/4 Silver Wings (R. Reed) 2; 3/3 Eara (S. Anderson) 3. Also started: 2/2 Fairfax (P. Burgess), 5/5 Trimden (H. N. Wiggins), 6/6 Daviet (G. Duncan), 7/7 Golden Rill (L. 11. Jones). Won by a head; two lengths. Time 1.1 1-5. Fairfax led from Eara, Life Guard, and Silver Wings until turning intox the straight, where Eara joined Fairfax, with Life Guard handy. Silver Wings, from a couple of lengths further back, came with a run on the outside and was only a head behind at the post.

NORMAN BY HANDICAP.—I/1 MIDI AN (R. Reed) 1; 4/4 Navaho (S. Anderson) 2; 2/2 Hunt the Slipper (W. J. Broughton) 3. Also started: 5/5 Sanguine King (P. Burgess), 3/3 Pomp (H. N. Wiggins), 6/6 Merry Way (S. Wilson). Won by three-quarters of a length; a nose. Time 1.26 3-5. Midian led all the way from Merry Way, Navaho and Hunt the Slipper. There was no change until the straight and nothing had a chance of overhauling Midian. In a great battle for second Navaho defeated Hunt the Slipper by a nose, with Sanguine King right up.

Won by three lengths; two lengths. Hard Times led from Reipar, Inveresk and True Measure, the latter being displaced by Lady Eka. The four leaders had the race to themselves. Turning into the straight Reipar and Hard Times were on terms ahead of Inveresk,,Lady Eka and Joy Box. Reipar drew out to win comfortably.

In a good finish St. Clara cut down the leaders to win from the fast-finishing Cereal. who headed Onewhetu. Dorado was fourth.
