HONORARY LL.D.
FOR N.Z. ANTHROPOLOGIST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 2-1. The honorary degree of Doctor of Literature was conferred on Diamond Jenness by the Senate of the University of New Zealand to-day, on the reconnnesdati'un of the Academic Board. Dr. Jenness was formerly a student at Victoria University College, graduating M.A. in 190.8, with first-class honours in classics. He is °t present Chief of the. Anthropological Section under the Canadian Government, and is in charge of the Anthropological Department of the Canadian National Museum, Ontario. Dr. Jenness has written numerous ami extensive reports on various phases of Eskimo anthropology, and, in addition. a well-known book, “Children of the Twilight,’" published in 1928. He has also published and edited reports on A-merican aborigines. He is recognised as one of the leading anthropologists of the present day, and his published works are evidence of his outstanding literary ability.
