(Our Own Correspondent). Breaking the long spell of dry weather in these parts, welcome rain commenced to fall ou Sunday. It is quite likely now that we will get too much of il. Prior to this downfall, we have had an odd day’s rain. Many settlers here had never seen the water holes in the paddocks dried up before. A large number of private cars have been noticed travelling to and from, both the Waiho ami Fox Glaciers of Many local residents attended the Jubilee celebrations in Hokitika last There is little or no improvement in the condition of Mrs. C. Black, of Evans Creek, who is at present a patient in the Westland Hospital. Miss A. Finnerty, of Wellington, is Rev. Father Spring i-f Reefton, also Rev. Father P. O’Meeghan, of Ahaura, paid a visit to Weheka just before the holidays. Many buildings are in course of erection in the Wataroa district at present. Club rooms are to be erected also very shortly. Despite the large volume of motor traffic on the South West la nd roads, no motor accident has taken place, due no doubt to the careful driving of file motorists. Another consignment of fat pigs will be forwarded from this flat for Addington next week.
