WEDDINGS

BOOTE—HIGNETT. A picturesque wedding was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Greymoulh, lust evening, when Winifred Mary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. ITlgnett, Karoro, was married to Evelyn, eldest son of Mr and Mrs James Boote. Runanga. Ven. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn officiated. A sOiO was rendered by Mr Harold Boote during the signing of the register. Mr T. F. Savage, L.A.8., presided at the organ. The bride entered the church, which was prettily decorated by friends of the bride, on the arm of her father. She wore a model gown of ivory angel lace over satin, cut on classical lines with a cowl neckline back and front, and with long fitting sleeves, the skirt forming a train. Her veil of embossed net and lace fell daintily to the edge of her frock from a cap caught at the nape of the neck with orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of Christmas lilies, sweet peas and nvaideuhair fern. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Joyce HignettS sister of the bridge, and Miss Mavis Herring, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids wore similar frocks of du' k egg blue angel lace over satin cut on classical lines with cowl necklines, and elbow-length puff sleeves, pink taffeta bows at tr* back being the, only contrast. The bridesmaids wore picture htas of Bangkok straw to tone, and carried bouquets of pink carnations, gladioli and roses. Tn attendance also was Miss Peggy Bottle, cousin of the bride, as flower girl, who was attired in a frock of shell pink georgette over satin, with a bracelet necklace. She carried a posy of pink carnations and roses.

Mr Harold Boote, brother of the bridegroom, was best mau, and Mr Stanley Hignett, brother of the bride, was groomsman. The reception was held at Herb. Moore’s, where the bride’s mother received guests wearing a model gown of brown marocain and lace, with .smart hat and shoes to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore a frock of black floral marocain and carried a bouquet of red roses. Mrs Bettie, aunt of the bride, wore a model frock of brown marocain, trimmed with embossed velvet, with beige chip straw hat to tone. After the wedding breakfast a large number of friends were entertained at a dance at Herb. Moore’s Cabaret. For travelling, the bride chose a smart navy tailored costume, with hat to tone.

The staff of John Burns and Co., Ltd., made a presentation to Miss Hignett,’on Christmas Eve, in the form if an automatic electric kettle. The presentation on behalf of the staff was made by the manager, Mr K. E. Bal-e-bin, who extended to Miss Hignett his and the staff’s best wishes for a happy and a prosperous married life. BUTCHER—FRANK. The wedding took place at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth recently of Bridget Cecilia, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Frank, Kotuku, to Norman Henry, second son of Mr and Mrs J. ButcheT, also of Kotuku. Miss Coral Butcher, sfister of the bridegroom acted as bridesmaid and Mr Edward Butcher attended his brother as best man. Rev. Father A. Gregory officiated. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a frock of palest pink organdie, cut on fitting lines to the knees, and falling in a graceful flare to the ground. Th-e hem-line and fully puffed sleeves were finished with a narrow frill, while t'iny sprays of delicate embroidery ornamented the bodice and lower part of the dress. Her beautiful veil of pink silk net was worn well back on the head, and was held in place with a trail of orange blossom buda She carried a bouquet of pink cactus, dahlias, sweet peas and maidenhair fern. The

bridesmaid wore a becoming anklelength frock of floral crepe de ch'ine, the sleeves slashed from shoulder to elbow and tight-fitting to the wrists. She wore a hat of blue Tagel straw, relieved with pink and carried a bouquet, of sweet peas and maidenhair fern,. A reception was later held at Harker’s tearoom*, Mr s Frank receiving her guests in a frock of heavily embassed georgette, with hat to tone. Mrs Butcher, mother of the bridegroom wore a frock of floral moroca'in, and a navy hat relieved with fawn and biege. The young couple later left for Christchurch, where the honeymoon was spent, the bride travelling in a smart blue swagger *uit of diagonal tweed and a hat of lemon straw.
