Widespn-cad use was made during the Christmas holidays of the recent-ly-instituted system oh cheap longdistance calls, whereby nd charge exceeding one shilling is made for any call in Great Britain during special hours. Since the concession 'vu& introduced months ago. a million such calls have been made, representing revenue of £50,000. A scheme to reduce the price of inland ftdegrams is now being considered, the suggestion being that twelve words shall be sen! for 9d instead of Is --V present.
