It is piloted by Vassile Du { mitrescu. a 29-y ear-old lawyer, and t a companion. f King Carol farewelled the two airj men, who plan to reach Darwin in t nine days. n BUCHAREST. December 29. Dumitrescu, whose companion is t Frimu, is flying a Roumanian twoseater tourer monoplane. Its top ; speed is 160 miles an hour, and its . cruising speed 125 miles an hour. - There are other Roumanian airmen j simultaneously flying to Calcutta and i Capetown. WALLER’S RETURN TO BRUSSELS BRUSSELS, December 28. Air Kenneth Waller has arrived, completing the 4900 miles from the Belgian Congo in 57 hours 19 minutes, including stops. The last lap of 1100 miles was. completed in 4 hours 59 minutes. Mr Waller, accompanied by Captain Franchomme. in the de Havillanl Comet, made the trip from Brussels to Leopoldville, capital of the Belgian Congo, in 51 hours, including stops. Th? flight to the Belgian Congo and back is intended to demonstrate the possibilitv of a regular air mail service on this' route. BRUSSELS. December 29. Waller and Franehomme on their return from Africa, were presented with flowers, and were carried to the pavilion. Neither appeared to he tired. General Gillieaux, commanding the Belgian Air Force, praised the regularity* of their outward and homeward flights. The airmen, in reply, said that a future service would need planes with an equal speed to that of the j Go met, and should be equipped with wireless.
