The mail handled was 20 per cent, up on last Christmas, while telegrams increased by 40 per £ent. |The telephone exchange experienced one of the busiest periods on record. CHRISTCHURCH NEWSPAPERS. CHRISTCHUROH, December 28. The Christchurch morning papers, “The Press” and the “Christchurch Times’’ announce that, from January 2, their price will be reduced to one penny. The evening paper, “Star” and “Sun” made the reduction to one penny five weeks ago.
