(Our Own Correspondent). The weather here remains still fine, with the result that there is a lack of fresh water. With so many fresh water creeks around the place, this scarcity should not occur. The local bowsers are visiting Westport for three days to take part in the Buller tournament. Mr A. Stewart and family, Mr H. Stewart and family, Mr R. Stewart and Miss A. Stewart, all left by car for Christchurch for the holidays. Mr D. Nairn and family are spending the Christmas season at Christchurch. Mrs Corbett and son are on a visit to Nelson. Messrs R. and A. Mclntyre have left for Nelson. Mr and Airs Peart are on a visit to Christchurch. Airs and Master T. Bly th have left for Auckland. Air and Mrs Alcßean are spending a holiday at •Christchurch. Air and Mrs ,W. Smith have gone on a visit to Blenheim. Mr T. Jack is visiting his parents on the Hill, Mr and Airs R. Jack. Air Jack has/ passed his examination as an accountant, and is now reckoned to be the youngest in New Zealand. Alessrs E. Lock and R. J. Smith are spending their holidays on the Hill. Air and Airs 11. Blyth, of Millerton. The bride, who entered the chur?h on the. arm of hep father, wore white georgette, liei frock being fashioned on fitted line*. "with cowl neckline, and cowl sleeves to the elbows, and with a tight cuff. The skirt was also fitting with inlet godets /of tiny flrills, and was ankle length. Her tulle ve'il was held in place with a band of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of Christmas lilies* and maidenhair fern. Aliss Hilda Parfitt, cousin of the bride, wa s bridesmaid, and her frock was green and Jen.on crepe,

wi'.h hat to match, and she carried a charm’ing bouquet. The tiny flower girl, niece of the bride, wore a dainty frock of blue satin, and carried a

basket vf flowers Air Blythe, brother of the groom, was best man. Rev. Coomb ridge officiated. After the ceremony the relatives and friends adjourned to the Rechabit e Hall where the wedding breakfast was held. A reception was held at Stockton Hall in the evening.

The delegate to the West Coast Council, Air R. Jack, gave a report on the meeting held 'in Westport for the purpose of winding up the affairs on the abolition of the Council. After the business had been discussed a vote of appreciation wa s accorded

all the officials who were on the Council for the service? rendered by them. The Buller Aliners’Central Committee held their meeting in Westport for the yearly winding-up, all the Buller Unions being represented. It was decided that Air A. McLagan represent, the Buller Unions on the ArgUg Board. It was moved that the Secretary, Mr H. Evan.*, get in touc'h. with Air F. L. Turley (Secretary of the Timber Workers’ Union) to obtain information in connection with the forming of a Council of Action in Buller early next year. It was also resolved that the Secretary write Mr J. C. Brown, stating that the miners intended to appoint their own independent chairman for the Committee. Air W. AleCubbin was the nominee of the Alillerton miners. It was a suggestion from the Centre Committee that the 1928 wages agreement be the basis for discussion at the forthcoming wages conference. It was decided that nominations be called for the official position? on the Centre Committee. Air IL Evans (Stockton) was . the Alillerton nominee for Secretary, and Mr R. Jack for President. Air W. Watson was appointed returning officer for the Central Committee.
