TRAGIC BLIZZARD
In North America NUMEROUS LIVES LOST. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received December 28 at 10.55 p.m.) VANCOUVER, December 27. An Arctic blast, which swept Canada and the United States during the week-end before Christmas, struck with renewed fury to-day, with a steadily-mounting list of fatalities. The blizzard crippled the transport around Montreal, whore the thermometer touched ten degrees below zero, while eastern Canada and the Atlantic Stales of America generally are buried iu snowdrifts. Ten were killed in Minnesota traffic accidents, the thermometer there being down to 39, while the States of Montana and Michigan counted ten dead, including two who were frozen to death in a stalled motor car. Highway traffic is at a standstill in the rural parts of Ontario province. Weather Vagaries UNUSUAL LONDON STORM. (Received December 28 at 7.15 p.m.) LONDON, December 28. London was surprised before midnight last night by a thunderstorm that was accompanied by blinding flash-Tightning, and a torrential rainfall. The weather experts have no record of any similar occurrence in Decern bur.
