WESTLAND RACES Concluding To-day WHITE DOE BIG RACE FANCY. The Westland Racing Club’s Jubilee meeting will conclude to-day. Good sized fields are engaged ami as on the first, day excellent racing with close finishes should be witnessed. The track is in first class order. The Westland Cup of one mile will be the main attraction. The .fields, prospects and starting times are as under: 12.15 NOVICE STAKES, 6 furlongs.— Ko vino, Marmoration, Delice, Sist'erena, Coponna 9.0. Backlead, Rotokino, Parazel 8.5. Delice; if produced, should go out a warm favourite for the Novice Stakes, whilst Back Lead will also command support. Marmoration in this race appears to have a better chance of a win than ever before. The other con- ! testants have all shown poor form with the possible exception of Sisterina, who ran a forward race, on the openi ing day. There should be most support for Delice Marmoration Back Lead 1.0 MINERS’ HACK HANDICAP, 6 furlongs.—Arrowmid 9.0, Margaret Rose 9.0, Patrol 8.12, Cheap Money 8.8. Monipere 8.7, Riptide 8.2, Wino 8.2, Kothen 7.13, Forceful 7.10, Epri? 7.8. Monipere will possibly be reserved for the Cup, but if started, will be a hot favourite for the Miners’ Hack Cheap Money is well treated, although he ran poorly on the opening day, must be considered here. Patrole, Arrowmid, Margaret. Rose and Wino also vs ill require consideration. A trio that should be in demand are Monipere Cheap Money Wino 1.40 KAXIERI TROT, 2.27 class, 1 mile —Ata ran King, Forest Maiden. Hermes. Tsobel Derby. Loch Erne, Minnetonka, Myra Chenault. Playwright ser. There is a good deal of untried quality in the Ranieri trot, and a trio that should be favoured are Atarau King Myra Chenault Playwright 2.35 CUP, 1 mile.—Riri 9.4, Weathcrley 8.9, White Doe 8.8, Little Doubt 8.7. Wise Choice 8.4, Earthquake 8.0 Monipere 7.13, Lady Rene 7.9, Rose V-aI 7.8, Fast Ace, Marmoration 7.0. A good even field is engaged in I he West land Cup. Riri is an unlikely starter, owing to soreness. Weatherly should go ;l good’ mile and will have to be considered. White Doe was galloping on at the end of six furlongs on the opening day after a poor getaway and should go out favourite. Little Doubt is better suited to heavy going. AVise Choice has been showing indications of staying ability and may be a force to be reckoned with, whilst Earthquake also races best over a mile. Monipere, if reserved will be a much fancied candidate. The remainder do not appear to have bright prospects. Most support will likely be for White Doe Monipere Earthquake 3.25 SUMMER HANDICAP, 54 furlongs —Royal Amphora 10. G, Royal Sceptre 8.10, Margaret Rose 8.9, Arrowmid 8.6, Arrow Rose 8.0. Awamutu 7.13, Delice 7.5, Free Rose 7.1. Royal Amphora is a cut above the average and should account for the field in the Summer Handicap. Royal Sceptre and Margaret Rose are the most likely to offer any serious opposition. The results should rest with Royal Amphora Margaret Bose Royal Sceptre 4.15 GOLDFIELDS HANDICAP, 1 mile. —lmperial Spear 9.1, Importance 9.0, Monipere 8.10, Rose Vai 8.5, Rothen 8.3, First View 8.2, Roderick Dhu. Arctic Star 7.11. Imperial Spear is asked to carry a lot of weight in the Goldfields Handicap. Arctic Star is a good miler, whilst First View must have prospects. A likely trio in the absence of Monipere are: Imperial Spear Arctic Star First View 5.0 WOODSTOCK TROT, 3.43 class, 14 miles.—Atarau King, Forest Maiden, Tsobel Derby, Minnetonka, Myra Chenault, Playwright scr, Superb 36. Investors should be guided by the form of candidates in the first trot, but Superb should nevertheless go on 1 a firm favourite. Most support will probably be for Superb Myra Chenault Playwright 5.45 COUNTY WELTER HANDICAP, 7 furlongs.—Royal Amphora 10.9, Little Doubt 10.1, * Riri 10.1, Patrole 9.5. White Doe 9.4, Imperial Spear 9.4, Wise Choice 9.2. Animated 9 2, Earthquake 9.0, Roderick Dhu 8.7. Most of the acceptors in the County Handicap will go to the post and it should be a <good betting race. All will have previously started. A trio likely to be fancied are Wise Choice Earthquake Patrole Greymouth T.C. THE ACCEPTANCES. With an average of 14 horses in each event, the Greymouth Trotting Club have received very satisfactory acceptances for the first day (January 4) of their Midsummer meeting. There was a large percentage of withdrawals, but the nominations were so large that the fields are still of a useful size. However, iit will probably now . be unnecessary to divide the first event.
