HARIHARI NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). A ball was held in the Public Ha’l on Labour night in aid of the Harihari Tennis Club. A large number attended and the ball was a success from, all viewpoints. The Canterbury Automobile Association’s patrol van, in charge of Mr L. D. Pickles, the Association’s road service officer, has been in South Westland during the past week, erecting the silver and black baniTs on the telephone poles along the main highway to Waiho and Weheka. A billiard room, with a motor garage attached, has been erected in Harihari by a local settler. Rev. Father Joyce, parish priest of Ross, will pay a visit to Harihari at the end. *of this week. Miss E-. Donovan, school mistress at Roa, paid a visit to Okarito iat the week-end. Mr C. Autlieman, of Dobson. is visiting South Westland, renewing some <of his old acquaintances. Miss M. Peterson, who has been on a health visit to Hamner for several months. iTas returned home.

Air Frank Roberts, of the Public Works Department, is on a brief visit to Christchurch. Mrs G. Diedrich and her sister. Miss J. Condon, of Hokitika, are on a visit to Mrs M. Patrick, Hvans Creek. *

The main highway, also the County roads in this locality, are free from wandering stock since a pounding officer has been appointed to look the roads south of Hokitika.
