. WELLINGTON, October 18. The weather report and forecast are as follows: General situation: The depression responsible for the present unsettled weather is now crossing the Dominion. An anti-cyclone is advancing across Tasman Sea. Forecast: Strong northerly winds at first over the southern and eastern por/tions of the North Inland, but otherwise moderate to strong southerlies prevailing. Seas in New Zealand waters rather rough to rough. Easitern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds and rough seas. The weather is improving gradm ally on the West Coa>t of the South Island; elsewhere, unsettled, with further rain; some snow on the ranges and hail in places. Temperaitures are becoming cold, with some frosts inland in the t'outh.
