THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 8. The weather report and forecast are as follows: General situation: A westerly depression of slight intensity is advancing from Tasman Sea, and is beginning to cross the South Island. Forecast: Moderate to strong northerly winds at first, except in the far south, and freshening n t times. A southerly change is advancing from the south, and is extending to beyond Cook Strait in the next, 24 hours. Seas in New Zealand waters rough south of Cape Egmont and in Cook and Fov. eaux Straits; elsewhere, smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northerly winds at first in places, but a change ito southerlies is advancing from the west; seas rather rough. Weaitlher: Scattered and mainly light to moderate rain in the western districts south of Kawhia, and later extending along the eastern parts of the South Island, but for the most par’t fine. Temperatures are becoming cooler over Ithe South Island.
