HALLMARK WINS OCTOBER. (Received October 7 at 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE. October 7. The Victorian Racing Club held its meeting at Flemington in wet weather yesterday. Results were:— Edward Manifold Stakes. —Arachne 8.7 (Dempsey) 1; Cinethon 8.7 (Elliott) 2; Quarto 8.7 (Badger) 3. Eight started, including Queen Helen. Won by half a length; one length. Time 1.39 J. Stand Handicap, first division. — Farndale 7.9 (Moran) 1; Broad Arrow 8.3 (Skidmore) 2; Folklore 7.0 (Murphy) 3. Sixteen started, including Ruling Light. Won by three lengths; a head. Time 2.6. Stand Handicap, second division. Hostile 7.10 (Bailey) 1; Streperus 7.12 (Breasley) 2; St. Valorey 7.7 (Dewhurst) 3. Fifteen started. Won by half a length; one and a half lengths. Time 2.54. In the October Hurdles, the New Zealander, Royal Visitor, broke down, and was destroyed by the V.R.C. veterinary.

Once one of the most-discussed and handsomest horses in England, and second favourite to Hyperion in the Derby, Lord Woolavington’s Manitoba, is going to New Zealand to the stud. He had eight races as a three-year-old. He won one. He has had eight unsuccessful races in the present season. He was second in the Newmarket yesterday.
