The weather report and forecast are as follows: Genera 1 , situaiti-on: A westerly depression of slight intensity is crossing the Dominion, the I'ine of lowest pressure 'this afternoon crossing the South Tisland. Forecast: Strong west to north-west windfl at first north ©f Greymouth and Akaroa, and reaching gale force in places; moderate to strong southerlies thence soutlrwaTds, extending northward over most of the Dominion during the next 24 hours. Seas in New Zealand waters rough in Cook and Foveaux Strait areas, and rising on the east coast of the South Island; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong north-wester-lies in the northern portion, but a change to southerlies i> advancing from the south; seas rather rough. Weather rather unsettled, with scattered rains in 'the western and southern districts, and extending gradually northwards over the eastern districts hut improving later on the west coast of the South Island. Temperatures are becoming colder.
