N.Z. Conference FESTIVAL RE;?rLTS. TIM ARI , October 5. The annua] meeting of the New Zealaud Branch of the British Drama League was held in Timaru to-day. most areas being represent ed. The Chairman of the National Council. Miss A. of Wellington, referred to great progress tin* League had made in the past year, stating it had attracted almost everyone interested in drama. She expressed pleasure at the representative attendance, and also a hope that the festival would be a successful one. A suggestion was made that in order to k-aijse aidditijonal funds to provide paid officers, the areas should contribute a quota based' on membership. The matter was held over t<> a meeiting of the Uounuil at Auckland. A remit was submitted that A Certificates be awarded onlv ar finals :it which three judges give a decision. The matter was Left to the areas themselves to decide. Regarding representation on the ift was decided that each area shall have the right to six nominations. and the area where the headquarters are situated shall have double this number. Officers were elected as follows;—President, Sir Michael Myers; VicePresidents, Misses A. Kane, and 'E. Blake, Sir Harold Beauchamp, Messrs TV. M. Page, A. Ileighway. G. Shirtcliffe (all of Wellington). Dr. TV. 11. Unwin (Tima'ru); Joint Secretaries. Misses E. Blake and E. Wemyss (Wellington); National Council. Misses A. Kane, E. Blake. D. Isaacs, B. Page, E. Wenyvss. J. Bridgeman, 11. Gardner. C. Keddell. M. C. Madever. Mrs E. Maslin, Canon P. James, Messrs E. Baldwin. S. Natusch, TV. Armour, TV. Page. V. Lloyd, W. TVauchop. T. Dawn, A. Farquahar, R. The National Drama League’s final festival was played before a packed house to-night and insulted:— ‘‘Jael’’, TVinchenden Players. Auckland, 1: “Road of Poplars’’. Napier Repertory Players 2: “Gruach’’. 'Dunedin Repertory Society, 3. The winners gave an impressive performance, as also did the runnersup. The judges were unanimous in their decision.
