an opportunity of expressing its desires before Mr Jones, Chairman of the Meat Board, sailed for England to negotiate regarding the meat question. The view was expressed that the dairy industry might be overlooked in the meait negotiations. a’so the restriction of bobby calf and pork exports would seriously affect dairymen. A deputation is to be sei up to lay the views of the meeting before the Government. The South Island Dairy Association is to be asked for support BRITISH INSISTENCE ON QUOTA. AUCKLAND. Octobee 5. Mr Hott said be thought the dairy quot’a repugnant. It appeared inevitable. Many people he mot thought that New Zealand made a great mistake in noit accepting the quota last year. The restriction would then have been small, and prices would have risen. It would not be nearly so easy to secure terms in future.
Every effoiit should be made to see that New Zealand was not made a stalking horse for British politics by individuals, who had their own pet theories.
