Mrs Richard Armstrong, of Runanga is leaving for Christchurch <m an extended holiday. Mr E. Dump'leton (Blackball) whose marriage to Miss Riita Clarke takes plae.e i n Christchurch on Wednesday next leaves this morning by car for Christchurch. He will be accompanied by Mrs E. Dumpleton senr.. and h'is brother, Mr Ron. Dumpleton. A supplementary Gazette issued last night announced the appointment of the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myer-, as Deputy-Governor-General during Lord Bledisloe’s absence in Australia, the appointment taking effect from 5 p.m. yesterday. The death occurred at Christchurch yesterday of Dr. F. V. Bevan Brown at the age of 46 years, a well-known city physician. He had a brief illness, which was the result of war service with the Royal Army Medical Corps in Flanders, Mesopotamia and Persia. He was unmarried.—Press Assn. Keating (Central Hotel, Greymouth), and F. Keating (Albion Hotel, Westport). After a stay at Greymouth, Mr Keating proceeds to Westport. Mr. Keating is a veteran gold miner, who participated :n the Coolgardie rush, and while in Westralia was an associate of Mr. J. Wilson, of Lake Hochstetter. On the occasion of the coming of age of Miss Coral Kirk, a pleasant evening was spent at Trinity Hal 1 . Games were indulged in, and Messrs W. Haybittie, T. Seddon and C. Fowler supplied the music for dancing. Miss Kirk was presented Awith a gold key by her brother, afteAvhich toasts were honoured. Among those present were: Misses G. Cressey, C. Tanner, V. Kirk.
