The vesse.'. was found to be practically up t-o the standard of the new rules, only a few minor alterations being required. A radio-direction finder is, however being provided, and is under manufacture by the Amalgamated Wireless Company in Australia, and will be fitted shortly. During the. course of the overhaul the whole of the accommodation and the cabin class dining room and most of the aceoiuinodaition in this ciass. have been repainted and i-e-der,orated. several tons of paints and enamels being used for this ami other purposes about the ship. Special attention has been given to the iir- 1-class music room. whiHj presents a fresh and pleasing appearnce wirh new upholstery ;i nd decorations in shades of: pink. The floor coverings of the first-class dinint!' and •’■•nioke rooms and the cabin chess dining- and music rooms and elsewhere in the ship have l.mon relaid with linry’.e flooring of varied colouring and attractive designs in harmony with the general decorations of 'the various apartments, a'total of about a thousand square yards being u l <‘d.
