RAILWAYMEN'S APPEAL. AGAINST RENT CHANGES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 4. When the case of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants v w Attorney-General was called in the Appeal Court. Mr O’Leary, vho is appearing for appellant, stated that since the fixture was made, negotiations had been opened, with a view to effecting a settlement of the rent questions arising under the National Expenditure Adjustment Act. Negotiations were proceeding and i T was hoped to effect a comprehensive settlement of the rent questions. Tn the circumstances, neither party wished to proceed at present with the unanswered questions in the originating summons. He asked that the fixture be. vacated, and ho hoped the Court wou’d not be further troubled with the matter. Ou behalf of the respondent, Mr Cooke lassurej 'the Court that 1 was the position. The Chief Justice, adjourning the ease sine die, said it was the kind °f case that the parties ought to settle if they could.
