FOUR YEAR PARLIAMENTS

Forced on N.Z. BILL PASSES THIRD READING. (Our Parliamentary Reporter). WELLINGTON, October 4. In the face of strenuous opposition the Government has rammed its four year Parliament Bill down tbo reluctant throats of the New Zealand electors. “We have done everything we could do” said Mr M. J. Savage, when speaking on the third reading of the Electoral Bill Number Two. “We have done everything our numbers will allow. Now, those who have forced this Bill on the country will have to take the consequences.” Every stage of the measure was fought to the bitter end by the Labour Party, but when the whips cracked at the divisions, the Government’s automatic voters won the day.
