A Press Association message announces that the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, will leave for Australia to-day by the Monowai, spending eleven days visit ing Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and Sir Frederick McMas ters’ sheep station, Balkeith, New South Wales, returning by the Wanganella, reaching Wellington on October Mt J. M. Bunt returned last even ing from Christchurch. Captain E. D. Ties returned last evening from a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs S. Hendry returned from Christchurch last evening. Miss D. Brown left yesterday on a visit to Wellington. Mr C. Gunn returned last evening from a visit to Auckland. Mr and Mrs P. Hamer, Totara Flat, returned yesterday from a visit to Wellington. Mr I. Patterson, of Reefton, returned last evening from a visit to Christchurch. Mr J. S. Robert son returned last evening from a holiday visit to the North Island. A Press Association message announces the re-appointment of Sir William Hall-Jones to the Legislative Council. Passengers by yesterday’s express to Christchurch included Mesdames H. Jackson, W. Clarke, and Miss C. Porter, Mrs C. Jameson (to Timaru), Mr. H. W. De Castro (to Wellington). A vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr John Jones, an old employee of the Council, was passed at last evening’s meeting of the Greymouth Borough Council. Takaka on Sunday after a brief illness of Mrs Edward Gooch. She is survived by a grown-up family. Mrs Mary Gunn, formerly of Cobden, and now of Takapuna, is a sister. A Press Association message announces that Mr Arthur 11. Johns, manager for New Zealand of the Colonial Mutual, has received cabled notification of his transfer to the head office at Melbourne. Ford, Railway guard at Auckland, to Greymouth, as Passenger Foreman, in succession to Mr A. L. Petherwick, recently transferred to Palmerston North.
