Rejects Cripps’ Plan (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, October 2. Al the Labour Party's Conference Sir S. Cripps moved a Socialist League Amendment to the official resolution aiming at fiw 1 years’ p'an of Socialism. He said that while ho agreed with official Labour’s objective. ho differed with the steps thereto. A workers’ government must immediately secure' economic power. The amendment- was defeated by 1.1-IG.IHIO |o 206.000. ’The Coii I’e.'ionce. by 'i huge' majority endorsed the rule that members of’ organisations auxiliary or subsidiary to the Communist Party are ineligible as members of the Labour Party. A motion to :-efor buck for reconsideration by the executive ‘he present list of ineligible organisations was defeated bv 1,317 000 to 195.000.
