An anti-cyclone, with its centre over New South Wales, is moving on to Tasman Sea ForecaT: Strong northerly winds to gales at first along the east coast of the North Is’and; otherwise, southerlies prevailing. of gale force at times “in place in and north of Cook Strait'; elsewhere, light to fresh. Seas in New Zealand waters heavy in the Cook Strait area, and rough elsewhere north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura; moderate thence southwards. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly winds and moderate to rather rough, but decreasing seas. Weather cloudy to overcast, with further rain in the central and eastern portions of the No nth Island and the northern portion of the South Island; elsewhere scattered showers, but improving; and a general imp'rovement is setting in tomorrow.
