RUSH ON BRITISH PHONES. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received October 2 at 10 p.m.) LONDON, October 2. The first nighlt of the new flat rate shilling trunk telephone calls resulted in .unprecedented congestion on the long distance lines. It is roughly es
timated that the calls after 7 p.m. totalled 150.000. which is three times more than the usual number. A feature was an enormous number < f calls from London and scotland, resulting in one tn two hours delay.
