(Our Own Correspondent). REEFTON, October 1. The weather repoi't for September as taken by Mr B. J. Airs Simins, of Waiqta who spent the week with her parents at Black’s Point, her mother being ill, returned home on Saturday. At the teachers’ certificates examinations held in Augimt, Miss Jane|t Linda Archer, of Reef ton, passed in eleven subjects for Class C. Miss Annie Winnifred Blackadder passed in two subjects for the same class. Mr O'.livier, Inspector of the Bank of New Zealand, arrived on Saturday on an official visit. Major ami Mrs II Campbell left this morning for Wellington |to attend reception ami investiture at Government House on Wednesday. A Rugby match played yesterday afternoon, between Denniston Pirates a nd Reefion colts, resulted in a win for Reefton by six points to three. The game was keenly contested. A Rugby League match for the O'Donnell ('up., between Mawheraiti ami Reefton. was won by Reefton by 33 points 'to nil. 'l'he game was well contested but the Reel.ton team was the belter on the piny. Four of the players were injured in this game, re-
quiring surgical atf.en t ion. E. Topp received an injury to his head requiring w<> stitches over an eve. G. Bennett had his ribs severely bruised. J. Byrne >f Ikainaliia was taken to hospital with injuries to a leg. B. Byrne sustained a. broken collarbone. Reefton was visited bv a very fierce gale la.t night, heavy rain. thunder, and lightning prevailing all the time. No damage was done beyond some fences being blown down. I’he Inangahua River was flooded. At a meeting of the Reefton Whippet Club held on Thursday evening, the following officers were appointed: Judge. Mr S. Austin; handicapper. Mr A. J. Chc|Hle; starter, Mr G Lockington. It was decided tha‘t the National Association be asked for permission to hold a meeting on October 28, on the Strand reserve A gox.d programme will be offered ami the dub arc busily p.reparing the course there.
