FEDERAL ELECTIONS
LYONS’S HOPES Of a Big Victory (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received September 7 at 10.5 p m.) SYDNEY. September 7. Although the Commoi.weath elections are now oid - one week off, the eke i n campaign has so far been the quietest one on record, which fact is in a large measure to be attributed to the high prestige of the Lyons Government. There has been none of the di-.ord er of he recrimination of the last Federal election, and there has been far less propaganda A considerab e amount of the campaigning ha.-f been carried on by men. s t broadcasting, which, owing io a protracted spell of extremely inb'ement weather, has enabled the elec<trs to -ta v at home and he a r the addresses in comfort. The Prime Minister. Rt. Hon. J. A. Lyons, arrived at Sydney to-day. after havii g made a tour of Queensland, South Australia. Tasmania and Victoria. Mr Lyons said: “There can be no iocbr of th’* re.ult on September 15. Our w rkers in every State are full of enthusiasm. 1 am sure that they are justified in expecting an overwhelming victory. My reception in all of the States that I have visited has been most cordial. Those seats which we lost at the last elec’ion in Queensland we now expect to regain. The only state where there ma v be some 'change is in New South Wales, which will be due to a minor redistribution of he boundaries in some of the electorates.
