With forehead battered, legs and part *of the trunk charred, but clothed in white and yellow pyjamas, tbe body of a girl, about twenty, hitherto unidentified, was found in a culvert near Albury. Ignoring a demand to put up his hands, Paul Drasdrooff, 45, a Russian was shot dead in his suburban shop by a youthful bandit who. with a eompanibn was interfering with the till, when they were surprised by Drasdroff 'Fhe men escaped in the darkness before they could be over taken by Drasdroff’s wife. OAMARU TRAGEDY. OAMARU, September 3. Robert Goudie, 48. labourer, mar ried, no family, was found this morning in the Bathroom of an annexe at the public hospital with his throat cut by a razor. At the inquest, the verdi’et was suicide while in a depressed state -of mind, due to illness.
