STERLING BEATS MORGAN. (Per Press Association.) OAMARU, August 23. In a professional boxing match tonight. between Ted Morgan 10.8 (Nelson) and Don Sterling 10.5 (Oamaru). the fight was keenly contested, and fairly even up to th P sixth round. Morgan showing slightly superior ring(•raft. In the sixth round, however. Sterling connected with a. left to the bod v and with a very powerful blow to the head. Morgan going down for nine. Morgan’s left eye was badly cut, but ho gamely finished the round to the gong, and Sterling was given the decision on a technical knock-out The Committee of the 1 Reefton Boxing Association are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to make the forthcoming tournament a huge success. The entries include a number of first-class boxers, including many champions from Westpor*. Greymouth, Blenheim, Nelson and Murchison. Several bouts arc being arranged for locail lads.
