The “Daily Express’’ financial editor says: Four hundred tons of si! ver has left Southampton for New York. Many more consignments of silver arc expected to follow. Chinese and other Far Eastern merchants are now bringing out their hoards of silver, they being tempted by the rise in the price. The 'increase in the price of silver will add millions sterling to the p'urchasing power of thc East, and it will possibly do more to bring about higher commodity values throughout the world than any other action that has yet been taken.
