THE WEATHER

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 16. The weather report and forecast are as follows:—General situation: A deep depression is crossing the Dominion to-day, with the centre in the south. An anti-cyclone now covers the whole of Australia. Forecast: Winds strong to gale force, northerly to westerly north of Westport and Kaikoura; elsewhere southerly, and a general southerly change is likely within the next ten to sixteen hours. Seas (New Zea land waters): Rough to heavy. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong south-west winds to gales, with heavy seas. Weather unsettled, with rain generally, and some heavy falls of snow on the ranges, also parts of the low levels ot the South Island. Temperatures are becoming very Fold.
