A rather amusing incident occurred at Wedderburn in the early part of last week which might have had a very serious result. A well-known resident of Ranfurly had parked his car outside the local hostelry, and while he was contracting his business an Alsatian dog took a liking for the car and a decided dislike for the owner. When the latter approached his ear the dog bared his teeth and showed every sign of launching an attack, necessitating his precipitous retreat to the sanctuary of the hostelry. No amount of coaxing or cajolery could persuade the dog to relinquish his selfappointed guardianship of the car, and ultimately the owner had to make a wide detour, keeping well out of sight of the dog. He then enlisted the services of a neighbouring farmer, who drove him down to the car in his gig so that he was able to baffle the dog by hastily opening the door and jumping into the car.
