WEST COAST v. CANTERBURY. When the West Coast representative team last year went on tour and triumphantly returned, proud winners of the Northern Union trophy, their success heightened interest in League to a great extent, and the possession of the trophy has made for more than usual interest in the season’s competition matches. This interest will reach its climax on Saturday, when the West Coast defends the Northern Union Cup against a challenge from Canterbury. The Canterbury team is very strong, and has already given a sample of its abilities. The West Coast team chosen for The match is a strong combination, comprising the cream of Coast’s and Inangahua’s outstanding players, and it is certain that the fact that the trophy is at stake will make the Coast produce its best football. The match is certain to provide fast, open football —the League code at its best—and lovers of sport of any kind would be well advised not to miss this "Flash between two first-class teams. Victoria Dark should be in great order for the match, and good weather conditions will ensure a game worth coming miles to see (as many will do) and a game > well worth remembering.
