Mr A. A. Adams, who last week underwent an operation, is making good progress. Mr T. Scott, Shakespeare Stree 4 , who has been seriously ill, is making good progress. Mrs H. D. Rev. J. Hetherington, of the Presbyterian Home Missions, who has been stationed for three years at Kumara, left yesterday on transfer to Pukondro. He was accompanied by Miss Jean Hetherington.

A London cablegram states that the Dowager Lady Swaythling is proceeding to New Zealand in the Rangitane on October 8, thence to Fiji and Australia. She will stay with the Governors of the various States visited.

The death occurred yesterday at Wellington of Mr Charles Bary, at the age of 71 years. He was a well-known headmaster of primary schools in the Wellington district, and he retired on superannuation in 1927, after nearly 51 years in the Education service. In his younger days Mr Bary took an active part, in cricket, football, shooting, yachting and athletics, and in his later years he was a keen bowler, being Secretary of the Wellington Club for some time. won the North Island championship singles in 1906. He is survived by his widow and two daughters.—Press Assn.
