NEW GUINEA MAIL. ULM’S SUCCESS. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) < Received August 1 at 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 1. Mr C. P. Ulm’s plane, “Faith in Australia,” arrived at Sydney to-day from New Guinea with a large consignment of mails, and then continued on to Canberra. Mr Ulm said that in three days he had passed through great extremes, going from tropical heat to snow and ice. He added that an added lesson from the flight was that there was no difficulty in conducting air services between Australia and New Guinea along the route that he had adopted. TRANS ATLANTIC SERVICE. BRITISH AIRWAYS PROJECT. (Received August 1 at 10.10 p.m.) LONDON, August 1. In view of a British trans-Atlantic air service to Canada by means of flying boats, the Imperial Airways Company is considering tenders for suitable craft for a proposed service via Bermuda or Iceland and Greenland. according to the season. The service would be maintained by twenty flying boats multi-engined ones designed to accommodate from thirty to fifty passengers.
