N.Z. SOCIETIES’ CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON. August 1. The advantages to be derived by inculcating principles of practical <-f»operntion in New Zealand by bringing more and more people* into cooperative societies was stressed- by the speakers at the annual conference of the New Zealand Co-operative Alliance. Mr C. H. Backhouse presided. Mr Backhouse’s address covered the results of his examination of tho system during a tour abroad.
