Miss Una Davis, who has been on a holiday vis*it to relatives at Westport returned yesterday to Hokitika.
The funeral of the late Mrs Mary Ann Rear took place yesterday after noon at Kaforo Cemetery The services were conducted by Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn.
The death has occurred at Melbourne of Mr D«vid Charles McGrath, United Australia Party, formerly Labour Member for Ballarat, »u rhe Hgu3 g of Representatives.

Miss Melba Robinson, who for: the past five years has been employed as telephone attendant at the Grey Hospital, was recently entertained at dinner by the administrative staff, Ju
making a presentation of a seagrass chair, Mr J. E. A. McKecfry (Man-aging-Seehetary) expressed regret at losing Miss Robinson from the staff, and wished her the best of luck, health and happiness. Mr G A. Brown also made eulogistic reference to Miss Robinson, and expressed his best wishes. Miss Robinson suitably replied. The guest of honour was .later entertained at a picture and supper party. Miss Robinson’s marriage to Mr A. Bannon, of Blackwater. takes place at Ikamatua ■on August 11th. The death of Mr John Saunders. ,sonr., which occurred at his residence, Boundary Street, this morning at an early hour, removes one of Greymouth ’s oldest and best known identities, and one whose passing many friends throughout the district will sincerely regret. He had been for some time in failing health, and three w •cks ago became seriously ill but remained cheerful to the end. A native of Colli igwood. Melbourne, where he was !a>' n 70 years ago, the late Mr Saunders came as a youth with bis family to Otago, and he arrived here forty-live years ago. since when be has resided in Grey mouth, lie leaves, besides hi* widow, a family of seven, five sons and two daughters, all resident in Grey mouth, the sons being John, William, George, David and Frederick, while the daughters are Annie and Gladys. He U fllso survived by a brother and two sisters residing in Otago.
