WELLINGTON, July 24. A request that the duty on oak hould be abolished, was made by a Wellington deputation representing nanufacturers of furniture. It was fated, on behalf of the deputation, hat oak plywood and veneers were mt products of New Zealand. There vas a definite demand and need for hem. The deputation also asked hat the duty on moquettes and tapesries for furniture coverings should b•educed by ten ‘per cent. In addition for the request for the removal of the British preferential tariff on plywood, the manufacturers asked for a reduction in the general tariff to 25 per rent.
