MURDEROUS ATTACK
WANGANUI SENSATION(Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, May 10. A sensation was caused here, this morning, when it was learned that the night attendant at Bowser’s, Ltd., Service Station, at-the corner of the Avenue and Plymouth Street, Charles Herbert Quinlan, aged 20, had been attacked by two young men. He was struck several times on the head with a paling, his hands and legs were bound, and the premises were ransacked and a small quantity of silver ami stamps stolen. This ocecrred at 1.30 a.m. Constable Christmas and Detective Walsh arrested two local young men, Thomas Benjamin Raymond and Robert Woodham. Accu.-ed were charged with robbing and wounding Quinlan, and were remanded until Afay 17. Detective Walsh, in opposing bail, said that a murderous attack had been made on Quinlan, and he was in hospital in a serious condition. One of the assailants called out to Quintan that he wanted four gallons of benzine in a hurry, and as soon as he opened the door, Quinlan was dazzled by the lights of the car, and was struck on the head and knocked down. Tie then received further blows.
