CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW

ST. JOHN’S DISPLAY. The annual Chrysanthemum Show of the St. John’s Horticultural Society was held yesterday, in St. John’s Hall, in perfect weather, and was favoured with a good response from exhibitors and the public. All sections were well filled, and the judges. Mr A. 11. Greenwood (Howers), Mesdames !■'. KitcLingham and W. Cunningham (decorative), ami Mr P. RlanehfielJ (cookery), had an unenviable task. The Show was opened by Rev. H. R. Fell, who thanked the exhibitors, those who assisted with the Show, and particularly the Secretary (Mrs O. McLean) for their efforts to ensure its success. There were also several well-filled stalls, the stall-holders being:—Cook erv; Mesdames J. P. Forbes. A. If. Paterson ami iP. J. McLean; Sewing: Mesdames W. Kyle and C. Rose; Sweets: Mesdames L. Anderson and N. Shall crass; Vegetables; MesdameJ. Tennent and A. Paddy; Flowers: Mrs J. Leitch. The trophies were won as follows: Trophy for Decorative Section, three Shows in the year; Miss N. Tennent (won twice in succession). Trophy’ for Decorated Table: Miss N. Tennent. Trophy for Champion Bloom: Mrs IT. P. Fitzgerald (Hokitika). St. John’s Rose Bowl for Chrysanthemum Section: Mrs H. P. Fitzgerald (second win). Trophy for Domestic Section: Miss F. MaeKenzio. Trophies for Cut Flowers Section: Miss C; Wilson and Mrs H. P. Fitzgerald. Trophy for Collection of Vegetables; Mr G. Wilson.
