THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 10. The weather report and forecast are as follows:—General situation: An intense anti-cyclone is now centred off the west coast of Otago, but pressure is still rather low to the north and north-east of New Zealand. Forecast; Winds southerly, still of gale force at places between Cook Strait and East Cape, but otherwise moderate to strong, and gradually decreasing, later becoming variable in the southern portions, with moderate seas; fresh to strong in the northern portion, with rather rough seas. Weather: A few scattered showers are still likely in the eastern and northern district- of the North Is'and, but, otherwise, fair to fine; temperatures cold, with many frosts, but becoming gradually milder from to-morrow.
