Fourth round—-Prenn defeated Avory 6/4, 6/3, 6/2. Tn the quarter-finals Of the singles. Perry meets Miki, McGrath meets Kirby, Quist meets Prenn and Crawford meets Boussus. The “News-Chronicle” acclaims Hare as a great player, and undoubtedly a world-beater in the making. Men’s doubles, second round: Crawford and McGrath defeated Stedman and Peters 6/3, 6/1. 4'6. 6/3; Fujikura and Hopman defeated Graves and Morris 8/6. 6/3, (j/1; Quist and Turnbull defeated Wheatcroft and Wilde 6/3, 6/4, 6/3. McGrath was supreme throughout, with perfectly-timed double-handed backhand shots. Stedman’s lobbing enabled him and his partner to take the set from Crawford and McGrath. Women’s singles, third round: Miss Heeley defeated Miss Hartigan 6/2, 6/3. Miss Hartigan failed to reproduce her Australian form. Women’s doubles, first round: Misses M'olesworth and Hartigan defeated Misses McOstrich and Whitmarsh 8/6, 6/1. Third round—Mrs Hopman and Miss Hardwick defeated Mrs Lucas and Miss Harry 7/5, 4/6. 6/4.
