The death is announced from Sydney. of George James Sly. aged 86, a solicitor, who for sixty years had a practice in Sydney. Miss Audrey Mills, who has conducted the children’s session at 3ZR on Wednesday evenings, leaves tomorrow for Christchurch, where she will in future reside. Mr R. Pattinson, of Runanga, left yesterday for Auckland to compete in the New Zealand hard court junior tennis championships, which commence on Tuesday. A cable from Paris states that the French Government have decided to allow Leon Trotsky to remain in France on condition that he issues no propaganda. A Los Angeles cable says: Virginia Bruce Gilbert, the fourth wife of John Gilbert, has filed a suit for divorce. She charged the screen aetor with being “arrogant, violent and abusive.” Passengers by yesterday’s express to Christchurch included: Mr and Mrs T. Bannister, Mrs F. M. Dennehy, Miss N.
