Members of the Greymouth Amateur Swimming Club last evening gather «d to make a presentation to Mr Alan Lane, in view of his approaching marriage at Ashburton on Wed nesday next. Mr N. W. Jones (President) said that both as an Executive member and swimmer, Mr Lane was a valuable member of the Club, and they all wished him success and happiness in his married life. He hoped that Mr Lane would not drop out of the Club’s activities, as he was a spout tliat they could ill-afford to lose, whilst besides, it wa© hard to get members to put their shauldei ♦to th*, wheel as Air Lane had done. Mr B. J. K. Griffen, in asking Air Lane’s acceptance of a suitcase as a small token of the esteem in which he wax held, said that Mr Lane s knowledge of swimming and advice in regard to swimming matters had been very helpful, Al-u Lune having been a Secretary of the Ashburton Club. Mr Lane suitably replied, and was accorded musical honours.
