AUSTRIA’S APPEAL To the Powers (Aus. & N-Z. Cable Assn.) GENEVA, January 23. The League is prepared to call an extraordinary session of tlx* Council, in forty-eight hours to discuss the German situation. Members of the Council promised Austria complete support if she appeals for protection against Nazi interference, but the appeal is contingent upon Trier’s rejection of Doll-fuss-’s representation thereon. CHANCELLOR’S STATEMENT. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) {Received January 24 at. 5.5 n.m ) VIENNA. January 24. Doctor Dollfiuss. Chancellor of Austria, in a broadcast address, con tinned the fact that he is considering appealing to the Powers. He added: “Austrian patience and forbearance are at the end- Our united nation is determined to assert -Lsrlf and to crush the terrorism within our borders. ” He said Austria would deal with the terrorism outside of its borders in a different manner and in a. different place. WARNING TO GERMANY. (Received January 24 a 1 11.20 p.m.) A’TEN NA. January 24. It is officially con firmed that the Austrian Minister at Berlin has handed a note to Herr Von Neurath (Foreign Minister) asking fur an assurance that interference should cease, failing which Austria will approach the League of Nations.
